Tufts University is a private research university in Medford/Somerville, Massachusetts. Founded in 1852 as Tufts College by Christian Universalists, Tufts University is organized into ten schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, The Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and The Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. It is ranked tied for 40th in U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 ranking of Best National Universities and 46th in their 2020 rankings. Additionally, it was ranked 8th among America’s Best Value Colleges by Forbes Magazine in 2016, 9th among 100 “Most Innovative” national universities by U.S. News & World Report in 2017, 54th globally among all colleges and universities by Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2018–2019,and 59th worldwide (second in New England) again for 2019–2020.
