The University of Liège is a public university located in Liège, Belgium. It was founded in 1817 by William I of the Netherlands and is organized into seven faculties: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Law, Economics and Management; Medicine and Pharmacy; Science and Technology; Theology and Religious Sciences; Psychology and Education; Applied Sciences.
The university has about 18,000 students enrolled in more than 400 programs. It is one of the largest universities in Belgium and offers a wide range of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The university is also home to a number of research institutes, including the Institute for Space Sciences, which conducts research in astrophysics, cosmology and space science.
The University of Liège is a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and the Coimbra Group. It is also affiliated with the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL), one of Belgium’s two federal universities.
