To combat this, try to find ways to relax and de-stress such as yoga, meditation, or spending time in nature. Also, make sure to get enough sleep each night as sleep deprivation can also lead to increased cortisol levels.

Certain medications can also cause weight gain as a side effect. If you have started a new medication and notice an increase in your weight, talk to your doctor about switching medications or adjusting the dosage. Some common culprits include birth control pills, antidepressants, steroids, and certain diabetes medications.

Finally, another possible cause of unwanted weight gain is an underlying health condition such as hypothyroidism or Cushing’s syndrome. If you have suddenly gained a significant amount of weight and cannot seem to lose it despite making lifestyle changes, it is important to see your doctor so they can rule out any underlying medical conditions..
