The University Of Cincinnati (UC) is one of the leading public research universities in the United States, with an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. UC offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs to more than 44,000 students across its five campuses.
Founded in 1819 as Cincinnati College, UC was the first institution of higher education in Ohio and is now one of America’s top 30 public research universities. The university is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as having “very high research activity”—the highest designation awarded to a public university. In fiscal year 2018, UC received $457 million in external research funding, ranking it 36th among all public universities according to federal data compiled by the National Science Foundation.
Over its 200-year history, UC has produced four Nobel laureates, including two who have won the Prize in Physiology or Medicine: Albert Sabin for his work on developing a polio vaccine; and Stanley Cohen for his discoveries concerning growth factors.
