The University of Leeds is a world-renowned research university located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The university was founded in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science and later became part of the federal Victoria University. In 1904, the college merged with Leeds School of Medicine and Leeds Institute of Technology to form the present-day university.
Leeds is ranked amongst the top 100 universities in the world (QS World University Rankings 2021) and is a member of the Russell Group of leading research-intensive UK universities. The university has nearly 40,000 students from over 150 countries enrolled across nine faculties: Arts, Biological Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering & Physical Sciences, Environment, Health Sciences, Information & Management Services and Law & Social Sciences.

The university’s main campus is situated close to Leeds city centre with easy access to all local amenities. Students can also take advantage of on-campus accommodation at one of our halls of residence or private sector providers near by. There are plenty of things to do in your spare time too with a range student clubs and societies available as well as regular events and activities organised by our Students’ Union. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat or drink there are plenty places on campus including cafés, bars and restaurants catering for all tastes. For shopping there’s a large supermarket just off campus as well smaller convenience stores located around central areas on site
