The University of South Australia (UniSA) is a public research university in the Australian state of South Australia. It was established in its current form in 1991 with the merger of the South Australian Institute of Technology and some smaller institutes. UniSA is part of the Innovative Research Universities network and is ranked in the world’s top 400 universities by Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
It has over 32,000 students, including more than 7,000 international students from over 100 countries, making it the largest university in South Australia and one of Australia’s most culturally diverse universities. Its main campus is located on North Terrace in Adelaide city centre, adjacent to Victoria Square and Rundle Mall. The Magill Campus is located 10 kilometres (6 mi) east of Adelaide CBD on Magill Road at Banksia Park-Torrens Valley area. The Mount Gambier Campus covers 25 hectares (61 acres) at Centenary Heights and offers courses mainly delivered by distance education mode for students living outside metropolitan Adelaide or interstate, as well as face-to-face teaching for local students wanting to study close to home. In addition to its main campuses, UniSA also operates from regional centres across South Australia: Whyalla; Port Augusta; Port Lincoln; Ceduna; Mount Gambier; Murray Bridge; Port Pirie; Victor Harbor and Berri.
