Tulane University is a private research university in New Orleans, Louisiana. Founded as a public medical college in 1834, the school grew into a comprehensive university in 1847 and was eventually privatized under the endowment of Paul Tulane in 1884. Tulane is renowned for its highly selective admissions, its nationally and internationally recognized faculty and research, and its unique blend of liberal arts and sciences programs with professional schools. The university enrolls over 10,000 students from all 50 states and more than 60 countries every year.

Tulane University’s campus is located on St. Charles Avenue in Uptown New Orleans on several blocks of land bordered by Loyola University New Orleans to the west, Audubon Park to the south, Freret Street to the north, and McAlister Drive to the east.
